Fathers & Sons
Father-Son Reset to work the whole pattern
Addiction keeps repeating in my family · 30 minutes
Use this when the room is hot, the pressure is climbing, or the urge to push harder is about to make the mess worse. Stay with the part that still has teeth.
IF
IF you have worked the first layers and addiction keeps repeating in my family still has weight
THEN
- Work the whole loop out loud: pressure, armor, distance, and the move you usually make next.
- Notice what the body does when the room gets quieter.
- Keep one clean limit in place so the old move cannot take the wheel.
- Choose the next move that protects contact without forcing a win.
- Leave with one simple rule you will actually use next time.
WHY
This works because arousal narrows choice. A 30 minutes reset uses the body first so pressure does not keep driving the room.
How & Why This Works
You lowered the temperature before you tried to get the answer.
When pressure drops, people can hear each other a little better and the next move is less likely to blow up.
Father-son conflict often runs on pressure and reaction. A reset interrupts that loop before it turns into another fight.
You may not get the whole conversation. You may just get enough room to keep it from getting worse.
This leans on work about autonomic arousal, breathing, and conflict de-escalation. RYD keeps it plain and makes the first move smaller.
